Executive Director's Message

Executive Director
Fran Schmidt
410-766-8282

I recently spoke with a group of teachers and I was explaining to them that business people need to learn a whole new vocabulary to keep up with the new initiatives in education.  We toss around words like STEM, Magnet, Signature and Cluster, but we need to explain what each term means in education and how they relate to business and community.

NAACCC is excited to be part of the STEM program and we are looking forward to working with students at all levels to encourage them to consider careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.  We are sending our businesses back to school to provide hands-on learning experiences for students K-12 and into community college.  They will be helping students understand how they can contribute to their future success as a student, employee and a member of the community by being successful in school.  If you are a business person and are not currently partnering with a local school, you need to answer the following questions.

Do you want to make a positive impact with a child that will last a life time?  Are you interested in promoting the positive development of potentially at-risk children in Northern Anne Arundel County?  Do you look at students today and see future business leaders?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you are ready to start a business-education partnership to provide all children with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviors necessary to become life-long learners and productive members of our society.
